Reach Out and Read of Greater New York – Perri Klass at the JCC

I wanted to let you know about this free event happening at the JCC. The event is hosted by Reach Out and Read of Greater New York.

Each year, Reach Out and Read and Greater New York pediatricians help prepare more than a quarter of a million children in New York’s neediest communities for school by prescribing free books and helping parents make reading part of their family’s daily routine.

CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP: A CONVERSATION WITH DR. PERRI KLASS

Free at The JCC in Manhattan, Tue, Mar 4, 6:30 – 8:30

Join Dr. Perri Klass, author of “18 and Under,” The New York Times monthly column on child health, for a conversation on the power of reading aloud to prepare children for school and bridge the growing achievement gap for children from low-income families. She’ll discuss research findings on child brain development, early language, and parenting practices, and offer strategies for families with young children to help build language, early literacy, and a love of reading. Dr. Klass will talk about supporting families to read with their young children. This program will be hosted by Reach Out and Read of Greater New York at the JCC in Manhattan. To register, please visit reachoutandreadnyc.org and click on “Community Events.”
