Free books for children age 0 – 5 – thanks, Dolly Parton!

The PJ Library ( www.pjlibrary.org) books were modeled after Dolly Parton’s program. NYC is promoting the books at the link below but it will take you to the site where many communities nationwide can enroll. Please share this with parents and TEACHERS that you know to spread the word, especially to children who do not otherwise have access to the abundance of books so many of us already do own.
Thanks, Beth, for passing along this link.

Subject: Free books for pre schoolers

FOR PARENTS OF PRE-SCHOOLERS
The NYC Imagination Library is an initiative of the NYC Dept. of Education. The goal is to promote the development of emergent literacy and language skills that are important for every child’s success in school by encouraging all NYC parents to read aloud to their children from birth until age five. Enroll your preschool child (age 0 to 5 yrs) in the NYC Imagination Library and a new, carefully selected, age-appropriate book will be mailed each month in your child’s name directly to your home. Books will begin arriving at your home six to eight weeks after your registration form has been received, and will continue every month until your child turns five and as long as you live within the five boroughs of NYC. Enroll at: www.nycimaginationlibrary.org
