We all have the “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” book, or we borrowed it from someone. Did you know they have the What to Expect Foundation? I just learned today that their national office is on the Upper West Side and in the front of their store, they are putting the finishing touches on a shop where you can DONATE AND BUY gently used children’s clothes and maternity clothes! I went by to see it today. It’s adorable! Good thing I learned about it before I went and created my own consignment shop to serve a need so many of us say we have!
You can drop off your bags as early as tomorrow (so many of you told me you have some right now taking up space in your apartments). If no one comes to the door, you can leave it just outside in the colorfully painted area at the foot of the stairs. They plan to be completely volunteer run so for those of you who have some extra time to volunteer after drop off, I know this place will become a special shop for the City!
All of the clothes are donated by people like us. Clothes (which I saw were adorable) are available to buy for great prices. Any clothes which remain unsold will be donated to people who need them. All the money will go to the Foundation which “provides empowering pregnancy information and support to expectant moms in need, so they too can expect healthier pregnancies, safer deliveries, and healthier, happier babies.” The Foundation helps parents who can’t afford – or read – a book like What to Expect.
